These Computer Games That Can Damage Your Health

There is no denying that computer and video games have changed the definition of play and entertainment, as we know it. They give us a stimulating and thrilling way to play games, but have they become a hindrance to our mental health?

Playing computer games has been associated with numerous side effects on children and adults alike. Issues of addiction, violent behavior, nudity, and social isolation were linked to playing computer video games. Several studies proved video games can inflict unwanted effects on players; these include relationship problems with friends and parents, higher susceptibility to drug use, low self-esteem, harsh or violent behavior, and problems with rules and authority. Young children and even adults who play video games are at a greater risk for "video games addiction", eventually affecting their studies and other social responsibilities. Playing video games is not the only factor predisposing individuals to these risks. The type of video games played is also seen as a significant factor that pushes individuals towards these adverse effects. So what are the computer games that can damage a person's health and well-being? Here is a list of the video games that can potentially affect health, especially when not managed appropriately.

Violent Video games

Studies have shown that violent video games can increase aggressive and violent behavior among children and teenagers. Examples range in story lines revolving around crimes, gang wars, shootings, killings and the like. According to psychology experts, games that involve guns and armories seemingly stimulate "murder scenarios" and seemingly promote a sense of immunity to killing among children and adolescents who play the games. An example of a computer game that raised controversy because of its violent content is the game "Grand Theft Auto". The game involves themes of gang wars, crimes and sex.

Adult Video games

This is another type of video game that may pose harm to an individual's health and well-being. Adult video games revolve around the theme of sex and nudity. Such themes can be dangerous for children and adults alike. "Grand Theft Auto: San Andres" is an example of a computer game with explicit sexual content; the game simulates sexual activity between the player's character and the main character's girlfriend. Another controversial game is "Rapelay" which revolves around rape. Video games must be carefully chosen and screened for adult content and their exposure to children and adolescents must be carefully monitored and supervised.

Arcade Games

Although almost all types of video games can cause excessive compulsion or a kind of addiction, playing arcade games cause significant addiction among individuals. Excessive compulsion to video game playing leads to a sedentary lifestyle, social isolation and non-fulfillment of important life tasks.

Fantasy Games and Role Playing Games

These types of video games can potentially be a threat to one's mental and physical health. Fantasy games and role-playing games can cloud a child's perception of reality. Since there is still a thin line between reality and fantasy among children at young ages, such games can greatly affect their perception of reality.

How To Start Playing Video Games

Exciting video games are an activity that are enjoyed by almost everyone. People from all walks of life are enjoying a video game right now on computers, consoles and even phones. If you would like to join them, then read the following article for some useful tips on video games.

Think about going to a gaming arcade in another town. These days, the majority of people enjoy video games at home, on personal consoles. Doing this is a good way to turn gaming into a more sociable activity.

Always be aware of your posture while gaming. If you play traditional games that require you to sit down, a stability ball can help you maintain good posture. If more active games are your thing, remember to stretch and take breaks. This will help keep you from getting game-related injuries.

Staff at game retailers are the best to ask for advice. Most people have genres that they find appealing, yet are not aware of the newest offerings. Video game store associates tend to be pretty heavy players in their own right, so they know some ideas you can try out.

When looking to purchase a new video game, be sure to check the price. The highest priced game isn't necessarily the best one. Check the box and figure out if it looks appealing. In addition, you should check out online reviews. Never purchase anything you're not sure about.

Make use of the best video connection you can. These cables allow you to connect to your television with different picture qualities. If you have a tv or monitor with different functionality, which is best? For the clearest and best picture, opt for either a HDMI or DVI connection if your television supports it. Next, try Composite and S-Video and if those don't work, use the RCA. Coaxial connections are used often, but they don't work as well. Use it as a connector in cases where you have no other options.

Reserve your game console well ahead of a new release. You may get special bonuses because you ordered early. They can provide a new level, map, weapon or outfit, or many other items.

Be aware of game ratings. There are video games suitable for all ages, not just children; in fact, many of them aren't child-friendly. Games are rated from EC, for Early Childhood, to AO, for Adults Only. Make sure you are purchasing games that are appropriate for the user's age.

The popularity of video gaming grows by leaps and bounds every year. Playing video games is increasingly popular, so there is no reason why you should not try them. There's a fun game out there for you to play, just use this article and start playing video games.

Racing Online Games Raise The Competition Between Racers

Racing Online Game
A racing online game is a type of computer video game, whether it’s in the first-person or third-person.

A scenario where the player partakes in a racing event by using any type of land, air, or sea motorized vehicles. They may be based on just about anything from real-world racing leagues to completely fantastical settings. Generally, they may be distributed along a spectrum cover anything from hardcore simulations, and easier arcade racing games.

General genres

Simulation style racing video games endeavor to convincingly imitate the handling of an automobile. They typically license true cars or racing leagues, and definitely will in some cases use fantasy autos designed to appear like real ones if unable to obtain an official licenses for them. Vehicular behavior physics are a crucial factor in the experience. The rigors of becoming a skillful race driver are actually also included (for instance the need to deal with a car's tire condition and gasoline level). Sufficient cornering technique and precision racing moves (such as trail braking) are given main concern in the simulation racing internet video games.

Although these types of racing simulators are particularly constructed for all who posses a high grade of driving technique, it's not surprising to discover aids that could be enabled from the game menu. The most frequent helps are traction control (TC), anti-lock brakes, navigating assistance, destruction resistance, clutch assistance and automated gear changes. Racing simulators are often piloted fully from the indoor driving view, as driving viewpoints from a viewpoint besides the driver's are considered arcade.

Arcade form racing games put fun and a quickly changing experience above all else, as motorcars often compete in particular approaches. A vital function of arcade racers that particularly distinguishes them from simulation racers is their much more liberal physics. Whereas in real racing (and subsequently, the simulation equivalents) the driver need to drop his or her speed radically to take most turns, arcade racing video games regularly urge the player to ”powerslide” the automobile to allow the player up t speed by traveling through a turn.

Accidents with other car racers, track obstacles, or traffic cars is often considerably more expanded than simulation racers as well. Generally, arcade racers simply eliminate the precision and rigor required from the simulation experience and focus exactly on the racing element totally. They often accredit real autos and leagues, yet are equally open to unusual settings and autos. Races take place on highways, windy roads, or in cities, they can be multiple-lap circuits or point-to-point, with one or multiple paths (sometimes with checkpoints), or different types of competition, like destruction derby, jumping, or testing driving skills.

A few arcade car racing games raise the competition in between racers by adding weapons that can be used against opponents to slow them down or otherwise obstruct their progress so they can be passed. This is a principal attribute in ”kart racing” games, such as the Mario Kart series, but this kind of gameplay also is seen in standard, car-based racing games as well. Weapons can vary from projectile attacks to traps as well as non-combative things like speed boosts. Weapon-based racing games contain games such as Full Auto, Rumble Racing.

Several arcade racing games raise the competition between racers by including weapons which can be used against opposing members to slow them down or otherwise obstruct their progress so they can be passed. This is main aspect in "kart racing" games, such as the Mario Kart series, however this type of game play also turns up in typical, car-based racing games too. Weapons can vary from projectile assaults to traps together with non-combative activities like speed boosts.

WarCraft Is A Server Using The Mine Craft Gun Mod And The Plane Mod

World of Warcraft
World of Warcraft (often abbreviated as WoW) is a massively multiplayer online role-playing game (MMORPG) by Blizzard Entertainment. It is the fourth released game set in the fantasy Warcraft universe, which was first introduced by Warcraft: Orcs & Humans in 1994.World of Warcraft takes place within the Warcraft world of Azeroth, approximately four years after the events at the conclusion of Blizzard's previous Warcraft release, Warcraft III: The Frozen Throne.Blizzard Entertainment announced World of Warcraft on September 2, 2001.The game was released on November 23, 2004, on the 10th anniversary of the Warcraft franchise.

The game will be focused on groups of noble warriors supporting mighty, Legendary Heroes, each of whom can advance and become more powerful as the game progresses. These Heroes are the central focus of the single-player game. Four linked campaigns – featuring the Humans, Undead, Orcs and Night Elves – together form the story of the day the sky rained fire and war once again swept the battered lands of Azeroth.

Players first take the role of Arthas, Paladin and crown prince of Lordaeron, as he investigates an uprising of Orcs and rumors of a plague sweeping the northern end of the kingdom. As the single-player game advances, the story moves on to other races, with each campaign picking up where the previous one left off. Heroes of other races appear throughout the campaigns, many times as allies, yet other times as enemies.

"It’s very exciting to return to the Warcraft series," stated Mike Morhaime, president and co-founder of Blizzard Entertainment. "We’re very proud of what we’ve accomplished with this game and we look forward to welcoming a new generation of gamers to Blizzard’s first PC game world." Warcraft III immerses players in a compelling, dynamic 3D world of incredible depth and detail. Daunting monsters roam a landscape filled with neutral towns, strongholds, and temples, while stunning environmental effects bring the world to life. The game includes a robust campaign editor for creating custom 3D maps and unique missions, with scripts for units, spells, and action-packed events.

The first expansion set of the game, The Burning Crusade, was released on January 16, 2007.The second expansion set, Wrath of the Lich King, was released on November 13, 2008.The third expansion set, Cataclysm, was released on December 7, 2010. On October 21, 2011, the fourth expansion set of the game, Mists of Pandaria, was announced at BlizzCon 2011 by Chris Metzen

WarCraft is a server using the minecraft gun mod and the plane mod. TO play on this server you MUST have the gun mod and plane mod installed with your client. There are multiple city states in the server. These city states are Athens, Sparta, and Argos. If you are accepted to the server, you can build your own city state or join one of the existing city states. Your city state must get approved my an admin ingame first.15

I'm not interested in how big the continents or whole world are supposed to be, but rather in an approximation (or measurements) how big all the zones[b] combined are on all the continents together.

That is, map size in km² / mi² / real world comparison when comparing the zone sizes with the avatars size and how long it takes one to run through. In The Frozen Throne, players revisit the war-torn world of Azeroth. Several months have passed since Archimonde and the Burning Legion were defeated at the battle of Mount Hyjal, but a new threat has arisen throughout the land. The campaign follows the traitorous Death Knight Arthas and the renegade Night Elf Demon Hunter Illidan as they battle their way toward the mysterious Icecrown glacier in Northrend. Imprisoned within this icy tomb is the soul of Ner’zhul, the evil Lich King responsible for unleashing the Undead Scourge upon the world of Azeroth. As the saga unfolds, the villains’ intentions are revealed, and the fate of the world will once again find itself in the hands of the resilient Human Alliance and the stalwart Night Elf Sentinels.

I would appreciate answers that ar e backed up by some research. Educated guesses are welcome too, but please try to motivate how you arrived at your guesses. Note that I "stole" this question title from a question here, and I found another random q here that doesn't give a satisfying answer either. I never played that much. Are they called "zones"? If not, feel free to edit.

Warhazard is an unofficial expansion for WarCraft III: Reign of Chaos and is by no means endorsed by WarCraft developer Blizzard. The plot of Warhazard will sound familiar to players of the original: gloom engulfs the country and demons arise in the cover of foggy valleys. The time of heroes returns, as players lead the sword of nemesis through battles into an unimaginable adventure. Warhazard basically delivers four new campaigns for the series, as well as a collection of new multiplayer maps and game modes. It also brings with it new units and items, and also a new Level Up system, which rewards an active player with more skill points. A role-play campaign places players in charge of a party with several heroes, as they explore mystical worlds in the search for the holy artefact.

I started to play recently and I created a new character and had a surprise that the bank is not the same for the new character. I would like to point out you some would expect hardcore elitism but as you can see from our actual progression video raids are usually really laid back asides a few raid monitoring people like Halby yelling once in a while.

Same elitism goes for applications however. Being in a low ranked guild doesn't make you a bad player. It shouldn't be hard for you to figure out if you stand out in what you do in your guild, and then we might want you.

This is our mid-progression recruitment that will allow you to step into raiding while we are closing in on unlocking Lady Sinestra 25 heroic and the other heroic end wing bosses.

Progression raiding currently obviously, afterwards you can expect a very laid back raiding schedule of a few days per week at maximum untill Tier 12 hits us.
In the cold, harsh northlands…The Lich King Arthas has set in motion events that could lead to the extinction of all life on Azeroth. With the armies of the undead and the necromantic power of the plague threatening to sweep across the land, only the mightiest heroes can oppose the Lich King’s will and end his reign of terror for all time.

Blizzard Entertainment’s latest expansion to World of Warcraft – Wrath of the Lich King – adds a host of epic content to the existing game world. Players will achieve soaring levels of power, explore a vast new continent, and battle other high-level heroes to determine the fate of Azeroth. As you pit yourself against the dangers of the north, prepare to:

Features Master the necromantic powers of the Death Knight – World of Warcraft’s first Hero class. Quest to level 80, gaining potent new abilities and talents along the way. Learn the craft of spell augmentation with the new Inscription profession.

Brave the harsh new continent of Northrend, the icy domain of the Lich King. Engage in epic siege warfare, deploying mighty siege engines to lay waste to destructible buildings in your path. Transform your hero’s look with new character-customization options, including new hairstyles and dances. Explore perilous new dungeons filled with some of the deadliest creatures — and greatest treasures — on Azeroth.

How can I pass my items or have a shared bank with my other character in the same realm? I don't have anyone ingame I could trust to give them the items so they could give it back to the other character. I'm currently leveling a rogue with the benefit of heirlooms, and will pass the exp yielding armor on to my druid when he's done. Will I be able to use this on a hunter, even though hunters wear mail instead of leather?

Blizzard DOTA Is Aimed At Encouraging Aggressive And Fast-Paced Team Gameplay, Resulting In Several Unique Twists On The DOTA Formula

DOTA
Blizzard DOTA is a new official custom game for StarCraft II, inspired by the Defense of the Ancients (DOTA) custom map for Warcraft III. Much like other DOTA-style games, Blizzard DOTA is a team-based competitive game in which each player controls a powerful hero with unique abilities, and works with his or her team to invade and destroy the enemy team’s base.

Your hero will gain experience as your team kills computer-controlled creatures and other players, and you can use this experience to strengthen his or her special abilities. You'll also earn gold, which you can use to purchase upgrades and items to customize and improve your hero over the course of a match.

Blizzard DOTA is aimed at encouraging aggressive and fast-paced team gameplay, resulting in several unique twists on the DOTA formula. For example, towers are extremely dangerous to individual heroes, but their ammunition can be temporarily exhausted by a dedicated team assault. Many rewards are team-based: experience points for enemy kills are shared between nearby heroes, and special power nodes, guarded by hostile creatures throughout the map, provide buffs to the strength of your army's entire force, not just the hero who finds them.

However, Blizzard DOTA differs from other DOTA-style games in a few significant ways. Items and heroes are fewer in number to ensure that they stay distinct. Heroes are categorized by four core types: tanks, who wear heavy armor and soak up damage at the forefront of fights; damage-dealers, who dish out brutal hits, but need to be protected by their teammates; support heroes, who can heal, stun and provide crowd control, and siege heroes, who can attack from long range, out-distancing enemy towers and blasting away at whole groups of foes.

Don’t worry, your eyes are not playing tricks on you! That is indeed a brand new HUD you’re seeing. Today’s update includes the first of many upcoming revisions to our UI, starting with the in-game HUD.

The gamers in DotA are seperated into two teams, with 5 player's each. There's even a modded version of the most recent dota map where you can play 6 vs 6.

In dotA you can choose only 1 hero and it will be your hero till the game ends. You can level up your hero attributes and additionally you can also purchase items, with the gold that you earn.In dota you may not win if you've got the most kills but you can only win if you defeat the enemy's base.So Basically dota is truly a team game.Someone should play the strong hero, somone else is required to play the fragile and support hero who almost always get's killed.

DotA was created by Icefrog (his authentic name is unknown). The map is constantly getting updated, fixing bugs, adding new characters and also other changes. As time goes by you will pick up a lot and you will be able to play just about every single dota hero. There is no doubt that you will be able to play all of them just like a pro. Once you start playing dotA at first, you will see individuals will begin calling you a noob and additionally swear.Don't mind them,I am certain that along with practice comes success. You must not forget that you play DotA for fun, don't get angry.Really enjoy every last single minute which you spend playing.

In dotA the heroes are separeted into 3 types, strengh hero, intelligence and agility heroes. As the time goes by you will likely learn which type of hero most closely fits you.By the way don't forget that when you are playing DotA with a certain hero not all item's stack, which means that various items are uselesss, for ex Basher for Barathrum.

Having to jump through hoops to interact with the courier and glyph. A lack of aesthetic coherency with the rest of the game visuals.

Web Games
"Web games with the traditional game, don't need to download, namely the point that is easy to play, handcuffed, play of time is short." ZhouHongYi think, web games while there are kept low viscosity, small, poor picture shortcomings, but with the web browser technology, 3 D engine with speeds of ascension that all future games can have web version, open the browser can play. "It represents the future direction."

ZhouHongYi so favour web game another reason is that he doesn't like in mature markets kept on the red sea. He said, the traditional online market has been relatively saturation, and web games is a new market, "there is no giants, are some of the young company, develop very quickly." ZhouHongYi, said 360 browser as a platform, the entrepreneurs of grassroots promote these web games, accounted for a third of the 360 total income. CAO Kai then hear the most is to spend two months a few people came out to do a game, and now has very few such stories.

Lord Of The Rings Online: The Shadows Of Angmar That You Are Waiting For

The circle is now complete. With Turbine's release of Lord of the Rings Online: The Shadows of Angmar (LOTRO), the Massively Mutliplayer game figuratively eats the tail of its originator in ouroboros-like fashion. Tolkien's work begat Dungeons and Dragons, the PC gaming market, CRPGs, and finally Massive games, and last month's release of LOTRO beautifully reconnects the future with the past. Replacing dice-wielding friends around a table has even, wonder of wonders, been done well. Polished gameplay and cutting-edge graphics abound; In direct contrast to the lackluster response to Turbine's other MMOG, Dungeons and Dragons Online, Lord of the Rings Online has had an overwhelmingly positive reaction from fans. Read on for my notes from the experience of trying on Hobbit feet for a month, and a few words about why LOTRO's quality is notable and highly encouraging.

It may seem derogatory to open a review by comparison to another game, but in this case the comparison is a positive one; it's worth saying up front: Lord of the Rings Online stacks up very well compared to the king of the genre, World of Warcraft (WoW). When WoW dropped on an unsuspecting PC market a little over two years ago, it changed the Massively Multiplayer industry forever. As a result, WoW has been an incredibly hard act to follow.

It's telling, and more than a little disconcerting, to note that every Massively Multiplayer game launched since WoW has had a very hard time garnering attention from traditional Massive gamers. Some expansions have worked out well, of course, and Guild Wars has succeeded by dodging the barrier of a monthly fee completely. New AAA MMOGs, though, have been grimly received. Some of the biggest games launched since WoW include: The Matrix Online, ArchLord, Dungeons and Dragons Online, Auto Assault, and Vanguard. Though each of these titles offers some interesting gameplay elements, none of them have managed to capture even a noticeable percentage of the WoW-playing audience.

The simple fact, then, that Lord of the Rings Online is a polished, competently executed, and genuinely fun Massively Multiplayer experience is not to be taken lightly. Adequacy should not be confused with disappointment. LOTRO is, literally, the first brand-new MMOG worth playing since World of Warcraft. As depressing as that is to contemplate, LOTRO's success is great news for fans of the books and movies; no one is turning in their grave as a result of this game's launch.

In the broadest sense, LOTRO compares favorably to World of Warcraft because it borrowed many components from the current king of the genre. LOTRO has adapted the general 'feel' of WoW's gameplay to a wholly new setting and experience. The result is a MMOG that will be extremely intuitive to anyone who has played other Massive games. Characters are chosen from a selection of classes and races, spend most of their time completing quests, fight opponents by selecting class abilities from a hotbar, and can band together with other players to take on challenges too dangerous to solo. The game can primarily be played by yourself, but common chat channels called Fellowships ensure that players looking for more long-term social commitments can achieve their goals. It's a sign of the times that WoW's success almost seems to demand some level of imitation from other products to be competitive. It should be stressed, though, that LOTRO is not just a poor man's WoW. This is no cheap knock-off, and the game is categorically not trying to be World of Warcraft. It would be more accurate to say that Turbine has recognized quality, and attempted to ensure that their own product lives up to expectations.

What separates LOTRO from the crowd, the thing that Turbine has sharpened and honed to cut players (at least temporarily) away from other games, is the Middle Earth license. The extraordinary care that the designers have taken to place players into Middle Earth is apparent in every aspect of the game. As in other titles set during the Rings trilogy, Turbine has wisely kept you fairly well removed from the main plot of the books. By following quests scattered throughout the world, your character dances around and through the journey of the One Ring. Though you can speak with every member of the Fellowship at some point in your travels, you are not asked to shoulder Frodo's burden. Instead, your character is woven deeply efforts of the free peoples to aid the ring-bearer and repel the forces of Mordor. The usual kill-it and fed-ex quests dot the land, and wouldn't look out of place in any other game. The sharp difference is that Turbine has leveraged Tolkien's amazing world-building efforts to make you actually care about what you're doing. Ranging from the practical (slaying goblins to keep the townspeople safe) to the ridiculous (running pies across the shire to spoil the Sackville-Baggins' party), quest text is remarkably well written. If you read and enjoyed the books, you're going to quickly find yourself pausing to read the tales these quests tell.

This pause, the interest in the lives of the NPCs, results in a different pace than you might be used to in other Massive games. It's, of course, an intrinsic part of the gameplay that you can set your own pace in a Massively Multiplayer game. That said many games compel you to rush everywhere, getting as much done as quickly as possible, playing for long stretches at a time to grind to the higher levels. LOTRO just doesn't have that vibe. Certainly, you can churn through the content as fast or slow as you'd like. There were max-level characters on the game servers within a week or two of the game's launch. For those with more appetite for story, or those grown tired of that pace in other online games, the breathtaking graphics and well-told tales encourage stopping to smell the roses. There's also just no compelling reason to grind your way to max-level in this game. Right now a big chunk of highest-level content is still in development, and for a Massively Multiplayer game LOTRO is quite reasonably priced. Anecdotal evidence from my own experiences and the experiences of other players indicates that Lord of the Rings Online is the kind of game that is most fun to play in fits and spurts. A few hours one day, a few hours the next ... it's so much fun running around the Shire, it's easy to see why a player would be in no rush to leave the lower levels.

Another element that encourages lingering rather that rushing, and can help assuage the hardcore players that might otherwise grumble, are the deeds. Deeds are a unique element to Lord of the Rings Online, a kind of achievement system somewhat reminiscent of those earned on the Xbox 360. They're discovered by doing the act the deed requires for the first time; for example, many require a certain number of monsters to be slain. The first time you kill a wolf in the Shire, your UI notes that you've begun work on the 'Wolf Slayer' deed. This can just be a blind grind-fest, if you're so inclined, but players have found that most deeds can be accomplished simply by going about their normal business of questing and traveling. Killing wolves as you encounter them in your travels eventually results in the completion of that deed, without needing to ruin your play experience with senseless repetition. Instead of Xbox Live gamerpoints, deeds earn your character two things: titles and virtues. Titles are simply that, strings that can be added on to your name. Completing the Wolf Slayer deed, for example, nets you the 'Fur Cutter' title. It's a simple customization, but the large number of deeds in the game allows for players to represent themselves in a myriad of different ways.

Virtues are much more important. Each completed deed gives you access to a virtue, an insubstantial descriptor that modifies your character's game statistics. As an example, completion of the Wolf Slayer deed earns the 'Discipline' virtue. Discipline increases melee damage and your character's resistance to injury. Each virtue modifies different character abilities and statistics, and are useful in different situations. A character's functionality can be changed dramatically just by swapping out what virtues they have slotted. It encourages differentiation between members of the same class, and a few wisely-chosen virtues can make the difference between victory and defeat.

Deeds aren't the only unique element LOTRO offers. The game's character classes are a nice tweak on the normal 'tank/mage/cleric' trinity that have been the standard in fantasy MMOs since EverQuest. While the basic party roles are all there, their Middle Earth wrapping pleasantly muddies the waters. The main Damage Per Second (DPS) class in the game, for example, is the Burglar, a rogue-type character. The character you'd expect to be most like the blaster/mage is the Loremaster, but he fulfills more of a crowd control role. He also has some healing skills, as do several other classes. The Minstrel is the primary healing class, but with multiple classes having the ability to heal it's not critical to ensure a Minstrel is in every party. This 'spreading the load' approach also allows Minstrels themselves to be a more front-line combatant than any priest or healer is in other games Their songs do damage to enemies, as well as providing short-term buffs for team-mates. Though for the most part these are all familiar roles in new packages, they 'feel' differently enough to provide a sense of novelty for veterans and new players alike.

Here’s What You Missed: Grand Theft Auto V

So far in the GTA series we’ve had Mafia hitman Tommy Vercetti in Vice City, gang member Carl “CJ” Johnson in San Andreas and lastly the eastern-european war veteran Niko Bellic in GTA IV. From the trailer it appears that Rockstar have moved on to a new style of character – a gravelly-voiced gentleman who appears to be in his late 40’s or 50’s, sporting a sort of New York gangster accent.

The demo showcases some fantastic sweeping shots across the area in which the game is set, which looks to us to be California – a return to the San Andreas days. We get a glimpse of some everyday people going about their everyday lives, a look at some fantastic looking sports cars, including one which looks remarkably like an Aston Martin, and even what looks to be the beginning of a mission.

We’re going to be expecting a lot from Grand Theft Auto V when it eventually arrives, from a vast open world to lush graphics and exciting adventures. But one thing that GTA has always had in abundance, is a good story.

It’s what keeps players around, keeps them focused and gets them invested in the game, as doing your own thing in a sandbox environment can get boring after a while. GTA V knows this all too well, and it seems that developer Rockstar Games has roped in some outside help in order to play to these strengths.

Speaking to VG24/7, sources told them that the 2K Czech Studio was collaborating with Rockstar Games, helping them with cutscene animations alongside some cinematic expertise and gameplay ideas.

2K Czech last worked on Mafia 2, which received mixed reviews from critics. Despite having excellent voice-acting and a cinematic quality that matched up with the polished gameplay, Mafia 2 was criticised for its lack of sandbox activities, as the story focus left very little room for sight-seeing and diversions.

Still, it was an above-average game, and with the developers currently working on a Mafia 3 after a year of pre-production, a collaboration of this magnitude can only spell good things for both sides.

It makes perfect sense as well, with the two studios falling under the 2K Games umbrella, to pool resources, as only good things can come out of such a brief partnership.

After a lot of excited pointing at mountains and dogs, the PC Gamer office got chatting about the sneaky hints Rockstar have dotted throughout the new GTA 5 trailer.

You’ve probably noticed the narrator sounds a lot like Ray Liotta, who voiced GTA Vice City’s player character Tommy Vercetti. But the greying middle-aged man we see in the footage isn’t the only one in player-character situations. There’s also a shaven-headed youth in a car chase with the police, and a tattooed black guy running from a cop chopper. And hey, isn’t that all three of them together breaking into the jewellery store? Click below for a full size image of the evidence.

Chris Thursten points out that GTA IV used a deal gone wrong to link three characters that you ultimately ended up playing: Niko in the main game, Johnny Klebitz in the Lost and the Damned DLC, and Luis Lopez in the Ballad of Gay Tony. GTA V might give us a choice of three protagonists from the off, each with their own stories, and use this robbery as the flashpoint that links them.

To Enjoy Playing Age Of Empires III Online For Free

Age of Empires III takes place in the colonial age where European explorers were crossing the ocean to the new world of America. Instead of siege weapon favorites like the trebuchet and battering ram, you have available to you canons and mortars. This gives the game a fresh new flavor and look and is a logical progression to the series. The core gameplay of Age of Empires III (AOE3) plays like most every other real time strategy game. You have peasants that build buildings and gather resources. Buildings provide access to technology upgrades which increase the efficiency of your peasants and provide upgrades to your combat units. The goal in most game types, including most of the single player campaign is to wipe out the enemy by destroying all of their buildings and units. There is a little bit more to the game of course, but this basic breakdown of gameplay still applies to it. Given the reputation of its predecessor of being a solid RTS game without redefining the genre, I'm not sure why I expected this AOE3 to make the leap to create a genre redefining game, however, I did, and I was a little disappointed that I didn’t' get it. On the other hand what is offered is virtually without fault so it must be commended for offering that.

Your colony in the game world. While playing the game, you will accumulate experience for performing certain actions. Destroying different enemy unit types and buildings each yield a given amount of experience points. Only after accumulating a given amount of experience points will you be able to select a card and send the shipment of your choosing. This experience is continually gained as you play the game or match. The availability of shipments are dependent on your accumulation of experience as you play the game. As such, only after accumulating the required amount of points will you be able to select one card. These points can later be used to upgrade your home city as well as to choose cards to put in your deck while in between matches or games.

Your home city continues to accumulate experience for each game you play in each different game type. For instance when playing the offline skirmish mode, your city will gain experience and level-up based on this accumulated experience after each match you play. Leveling up provides access to new cards that you can unlock as well as providing you with a providing you with a point that can be used towards selecting a new card available to you during gameplay. Leveling up can also provide you with the ability to unlock visual upgrades to your home city. In my opinion this is one aspect where the concept of the home city seems somewhat stilted. The visual upgrades serve little purpose as your ability to view your home city is restricted to a picture frame view. You do not have 3D access to view and rotate the view, nor are you able to really manipulate the home city. While strategic elements of the home city are well implemented within the primary game play, it would have been nice to see a greater implementation of the home city in between the game missions or matches. For instance, maybe it would have been nice to initiate technology research at the home city that would take a number of matches to complete but that would be available at the start of matches. Maybe it would also have been nice to manipulate things like taxation at the home city which would in turn affect the resources available at the beginning of matches. This would likely have changed the face of the game somewhat; however the visual upgrade options for the home city only serve to leave the gamer wanting for more.

The game actually forces the player to rely quite heavily on their cards and shipments. The technology tree available to the buyer is actually quite difficult to progress in and early in the game, the player with the better deck of cards available to them will have a decided advantage. Resource gathering is fairly slow and you will need a lot of peasants to increase your production rate. This is offset by the fact that spending resources on increasing production rate of your resources through either upgrading your peasant abilities or by increasing the number of peasants can quickly eat up your resources and leave you with few military units to defend your colony, let alone attack your opponent. This is where a fully stacked deck of cards with shipments of fresh troops or available technologies can prove invaluable. By spending your resources wisely with respect to your available deck of cards, you can still maintain a balance of play where you can be successful against your opponent. Also, some of the more powerful units available to you can only be accessed through city shipments. Mercenary units like black riders are incredibly powerful, but depending on your civilization type you won't be able to build them, however you can have them shipped to you from the home city.

One complaint that I do have for the game is that the technology upgrades provide little visual or perceived real impact on the gameplay. By outfitting your units with better weapons or armor, you should have a graphical and perceivable gameplay difference. I found neither when progressing through the technology upgrades. Perhaps this was due to the game difficulty or opponent increasing there technology at the same rate, however, I found the advantages of upgrading combat units and collection rates for peasants somewhat unperceivable. Considering how long these upgrades can take to progress through, I would have expected to have a more noticeable improvement. While progressing through the Ages does provide a graphical change, the units you use still look the same. In addition, the differences between the eight different civilization types is similarly muted. There are many common units between civilizations that are both graphically and functionally the same. While this no doubt serves to maintain a balanced gameplay environment, this leaves the differences in playing a unique civilization underwhelming.

Other new additions to the formula are the addition of Hero units. These units can only be incapacitated and not killed. There are also Native American civilizations that you can ally with. These civilizations provide you with unique combat units and can be handy in rounding out your attack. Peasants now do not need to drop off resources. Rather, they simply stay at their collection station and your resources gather without requiring your peasants to drop off what they have gathered. Resources can also be accumulated through trade routes set up through set trading posts. You can also manufacture resources later in the game with the addition of a factory. These tweaks definitely help to balance out the game in the later stages of a match.

Age of Empires III has a lot packed into it. There is of course the lengthy single player campaign. There is also an offline skirmish mode, and of course the online mode. The online mode can be played in ranked matches as well unranked games and skirmishes. There is also a scenario editor. This is sure to provide a lot for most gamers to chew on. The graphics and sound are about on par for today's games, and is about the expected progression from the previous entry in the series. AOE3 should be judged on its own merits and with this mind, we have a virtually flawless representation of the genre. However, with the previous entry into the series, this achievement was already realized.

Grand Theft Auto IV Takes Things In A New Direction

In a series rife with over-the-top entries such as Vice City and San Andreas, Grand Theft Auto IV takes things in a new direction: gritty realism. This time around you play as Niko Bellic, an Eastern European immigrant who has arrived in Liberty City in pursuit of the American Dream (and I’m not talking about Dusty Rhodes). Upon arriving, he gets caught up in the criminal lifestyle found in other GTA games, eventually racking up countless murders and other violent crimes. Along the way, he meets a colorful cast of characters (some brilliant, some annoying) who help push the story along by providing new missions.

The core sandbox gameplay found in previous titles is largely the same, but everything is more realistic, beginning with the driving controls. A lot of people were instantly turned off to the game due to its vehicle handling, which is drastically different from years past. Cars are a little more difficult to handle, at least at first, and it’s a little too easy to lose control while traveling at high speeds. The learning curve will bother some gamers, but I found the controls to be satisfactory as I grew more comfortable with them.

Another aspect that tries to make the game more “real” is the heavy reliance on Niko’s cell phone. People are always calling Niko. If they aren’t telling him about new missions, they are wanting to hang out and go bowling, play pool or go get some drinks. Going out with friends is, unfortunately, a necessity if you are looking to do everything the game has to offer. This means that in between missions you will often have to call some friends (or potential girlfriends), pick them up, go out and do something, then drop them back off. While hanging out to sustain relationships is realistic, it’s more of a nuisance than anything in video game form.

The game’s main missions are pretty much what you would expect — meet with someone, drive to a location, kill some people, outrun the cops and then pick up your reward. This is the basic formula that encompasses the majority of the missions, although every now and then there is something unique to liven things up. My personal favorite involves participating in a bank heist gone bad and then having to shoot your way out; it reminded me a lot of the Michael Mann classic, Heat. While there is some redundancy involved, the occasional spurts of different tasks keeps the game fresh.

Unfortunately, the game’s mission checkpoint system still feels like it is in the stone age. This is a major issue for me, as it can be unbearably frustrating to start a mission, drive all the way across the city, complete a task or two and then end up dying before completion. If you die or get arrested, you are screwed. You can’t restart at the point you died; instead, you have to start the entire mission all over again. Times have changed, Rockstar. This shit does not fly anymore.

Another thing that can be grating is the clunky combat/shooting system. While certainly improved over past entries in the series, GTA IV’s combat still does not feel natural. The new cover system is a good idea in theory, but sometimes it can be difficult to actually get into cover and remain there. This can lead to being left prone for enemy fire. The new targeting system is improved, but again, it still leaves something to be desired. The appropriate steps have been taken, but Rockstar just isn’t quite there yet.

Really, even though all of these gripes are perfectly justifiable, Grand Theft Auto IV is an impressive video game, hands down. It’s not perfect, but I have never played a game that has created such a massive, living and breathing city like Liberty City. There is just so much to do, and you can play the game to your liking. Liberty City feels like the sadistic little brother of New York City, with its own distinct areas modeled after real life locales. Quite frankly, the game’s world is beautiful in its own dark and grimy way. The graphics are slick, and even breathtaking at times (I love driving on the bridge with the skyline in the background). The soundtrack is as great as ever, and even the hilarious satire news stations are back.

Grand Theft Auto IV is a major technical achievement in the video game industry, and it really is something to behold. Even with its flaws, GTA IV is a great experience that is worthy of the many, many hours that so many gamers have invested in it.

Star Wars :The Force Unleashed PSP Game

You're cast as Galen "Star Killer" Malek, Darth Vader's secret apprentice. Clone Wars is completed, and Vader orders you to hunt down and destroy the last of the remaining Jedi. Exploring the universe from this dark perspective is remarkably compelling. The story is over in under six hours, but it contains multiple twists, some friendly and not-so-friendly faces, and is both explosive and remarkably intimate. You'll interact with Vader, of course, but Star Killer spends most of her time with an Android called PROXY and his female pilot, Juno Eclipse. Sharing information on the trio's adventures would spoil too much, so suffice it to say that you'll grow remarkably fond of Star Killer and his companions, and their moral conflicts carry a lot of weight.

The real star of the game is not Star Killer, though, it's the robust physics engine that drives your most impressive moves. Using Force grip, you can grab and throw any number of objects, including your enemies with Force Push, push objects and enemies out of your way. These skills and their variants deliver the game's best moments. Whether you're flinging stormtroopers into each other or offing swarms of rebels with a burst of energy, there are a number of "did you see that?" moments that will have you grabbing your friends to show them your Felucian-flinging prowess. Nonetheless, the controls dismissive and sometimes lack fluidity. There is a bit of a delay after some of the more Force power animations, so your button presses may not result in the screen action and fluttering bouncy makes some platforming sequences more frustrating than fun.

Those platforming sequences are made more annoying by Force Unleashed's heavy camera. The player has no manual camera control, and though the game tries to leash this untamable beast, it easily gets stuck in corners and against walls. A targeted system that allows you to focus on a single enemy mitigates this issue somewhat, and the camera will move behind you if you remain motionless for a second or two, but these are imperfect solutions. But the targeting is not as frustrating as it is in other versions, since environments are generally smaller and not filled with so many things. There are still some moments where you grab a different object than you intended, but see how there are fewer objects to grab, these moments give only occasional frustration.

Force Unleashed moves along with a relatively fast pace, so between droid meetings and boss battles, you will always be in the thick of the action. You will not find much challenge in the campaign, and there are plenty of health drops scattered around, including respawning them during boss fights. Should you die, you will restart at the most recent checkpoint with all the damage you've already done to your enemies still intact. This is probably the best because it keeps the pace moving. Some variety comes by way of Force Unleashed's God of War-style quick-time events that result in some terrific, flashy-looking moves, whether you're smashing on an opposing Jedi or defeating a rancor in a series of thrilling acrobatics. And it's a welcome sort of variety, then you must visit the same exact levels several times.

Fortunately, the PSP exclusive modes will scratch your itch for a good challenge, and they are more entertaining than the story mode, to boot. Several stand-alone scenarios, you can participate in famous (and hypothetical) battles from the Star Wars universe. As Anakin Skywalker, you'll skirmish with Count Dooku as the Emperor looks on as Vader, you will come to blows with Luke before dropping the family bomb. These missions, and others, are essentially extended boss battles, but they released the campaign's bosses thanks to larger environments, while mid-battle recreations of familiar scenes make them more dramatic. Other fictional scenarios let you choose a character and assume a host of Jedi, one after the other or defend against waves of enemies. The camera can still get in the way during these battles, for example, makes defeating Jabba's henchmen and Boba Fett while avoiding the hungry mouth Sarlacc more frustrating than it should be. Nevertheless, these meetings is ultimately fun, offer a lot of replay value, and appeals to the game's strengths: The environments are all the right size and there are neither too many nor too few scattered items to throw around.

The visual and audio capture both the Star Wars feel. Moderately sized environments are fairly detailed, and saber action and powerful-looking Force abilities produce flurries of particles and other special effects. Areas such as the Jedi Temple, which looked underwhelming on the Wii and PlayStation 2, benefit from the smaller screen, which gives a sharper look. The good graphics come with a warning, though: long loading times between missions, and moments where the action will pause as the UMD spins. These hitches occurred on both Slim and original model PSPs, so you should expect to meet them, regardless of what version of hardware you own. Breaks are usually not pronounced, but they will snap you back to reality at inopportune moments. John Williams' music and some original tracks as well as the familiar swoosh of sabers, sound like you'd expect, and they appeal whether you don headphones or listen via the PSP's speakers. The voice acting is all quite good and the voiceovers of the famous scenes seem to be lifted directly from the films.

Starcraft Is A Great Starcraft Game And A Crappy Relic Game

Right now, around the world, hundreds of thousands of gamers are glued to their computers scratching an itch they haven't been able to scratch for more than a decade.

That is, as of today, the world can finally get its mitts on "StarCraft II: Wings of Liberty" — the long, long, long-awaited sequel to "StarCraft" and perhaps the most anticipated PC game of all time. The thing is, "StarCraft" isn't just a game, it's a phenomenon.

The first incarnation of this sci-fi title for the PC launched back in 1998 and quickly became the real-time-strategy game that all others would be measured against. A chess-like game of resource management and galactic warfare, Blizzard Entertainment's "StarCraft" gave players the chance to not only play through a single-player campaign featuring a dramatic story of conquest, betrayal and sacrifice, but it also allowed players to pit their skills against each other, controlling one of three distinct races — the Protoss with their advanced technology, the swarming, insect-like Zerg and the human Terrans — in a battle for supremacy.

"The story just grabbed me and the multiplayer experience grabbed me," said Ryan Tower, who began playing the game when he was 11 years old and is now the lead administrator for the "StarCraft" fan site StarCraft: Legacy. "I mean, there was just so much life in that game."

Indeed, "StarCraft" was embraced the world over with a stunning zeal. Not only did the first game sell an absurd number of copies — more than 11 million worldwide — it became the foundation for an international spectator sport.
Part of what made the game such a hit was the fact that although "StarCraft" was relatively easy to pick up, it was so deep that after years of playing it, gamers were still discovering tricks and strategies.

Frank Pearce, Blizzard Entertainment co-founder and executive vice president, said he believes the game's stunning popularity came not only because "StarCraft" offered a compelling story, but because it used the company's then-new Battle.Net platform — an online gaming service that made it easy for players to find and connect with one another and then duke it out in multiplayer games of up to eight people.

But Tower said the thing that really launched the game into the stratosphere was the fact that "StarCraft" gained a reputation for being extremely well-balanced, which meant that players could play any one of the game's three races and feel like they had an equal shot of winning.

"It took a lot of skill to master the game but you couldn't dominate it," Tower said.

"StarCraft" quickly became the go-to game for professional gaming competitions. And it simply exploded in South Korea — a country where, at that time, both broadband Internet service and public gaming cafes were suddenly booming. There, professional "StarCraft" competitions began filling stadiums with thousands of spectators excited to cheer on their favorite "StarCraft" players — players paid big bucks to compete.

And, of course, when you're trying to follow up a hit like "StarCraft," you've got to make sure you do it right.

"'StarCraft II' is really something we've been building from the ground up," Pearce said. "It's an all-new game engine built on an all-new Battle.Net platform. The missions are all very unique and diverse. The story campaign is the most ambitious story campaign for a real-time-strategy game ever for us."

And he said: "Everyone on the development team knows how well-loved the original 'StarCraft' is and so they want to honor the legacy of that experience. We wanted to make sure we put the appropriate amount of polish into it to meet the standard of quality we have for ourselves and the standards of quality our fans expect of us. The time it took to get it into the fans' hands was what was necessary to hit those standards."

Of course, the question is — will "StarCraft II" be able to fill the shoes of its predecessor? Some expect it to not only fill those shoes, but over-fill them.
